Forever Family

adoption-day073115.jpg

1.5 year old John has been in foster care since he was born and his 10 year old sister, Amanda, who was in the group home, desperately wanted to live with her baby brother.  Just before his first birthday, John and Amanda were able to move in together to the foster home of Jerome and Frederique Navarro.

Recently, Jerome and Frederique, along with their three biological children, Juliette, Lou and Elio, committed themselves to Amanda and John as forever family.

Amanda beamed in her new white dress that she swore she wouldn’t take off all day and John squealed and smiled as he knew something exciting was happening.  It was a beautiful morning and the proud look on the new parent’s faces was priceless.  Even, Amanda’s newly adopted friend, Monica Bailey, was there with flowers to share.

Two sisters, Amber and Cheyenne, have experienced more change and loss in their short lives that any of the children I have worked with.  Today, I had the privilege of watching these two beautiful girls being adopted by their adoptive mom, Kelly.  They were shy with Judge Garcia but even he couldn’t miss the huge smiles on their faces.  Even Kelly kept repeating, “Good day, good day”.  And it was.

March 17, 2014, Key West, FL - Wesley House Family Services recently received a $2,000 donation from the Pier House Resort & Spa.

The monies from the donation - a result of Pier House GM Joe Dantoni being named Resort Manager of the Year by Remington Hotels - will be used to purchase items for foster children that are not covered by state funding.  These items enable foster children to better cope during what is a difficult transition time in their lives.

The Pier House has been a long-time supporter of Wesley House, our programs and our families, stated Wesley House Board Chairman Bryan Green.  It is with continued gratitude that we accept this generous donation.

Aside from the donation, the Pier House consistently adopts a family during Christmas time, as well throughout the year, to assist them with the expenses of raising a child.
