Foster Home Re-licensing Support

Each foster home must be re-licensed every year.  This is to ensure that conditions in the home haven't changed and that it remains a safe, nurturing environment for the children.  The re-licensing process involves the updating of some paperwork and home visits.  A Wesley House staff person will help walk you through the process.

The process takes some time, so the work of re-licensing begins before the current license expires.  For example, if a family's license expires on December 31, 2009, work on the re-licensing would begin around October 1, 2009 in order to guarantee that the paperwork is completed, submitted and approved before December 31, 2009.  This ensures that there is a smooth transition.  If there were to be a gap, even of one day, between the expiration of the old license and the approval of the new license, the children would have to be removed for that period.
