Wesley House hosts a variety of events throughout the year. Fundraisers range from our annual signature Valentine’s Day Party in February to the Conch Republic Royal Investiture in April. In addition, we also host friendraisers and other events that help raise awareness about Wesley House programs.
Love to boat and like to golf? Like to boat and love to golf? The Conch Life Scramble is exactly the event for you. This on-the-water golf tournament features nine “holes” at different boat-accessible bars and restaurants around Key West.
Friday, November 5th is the “Kick-off” Party for this Scramble. All participants will meet at a location for free food, cash bar, silent auction, registration and driving practice.
The next morning, Saturday, November 6th, the tournament begins and all registered boats will take off from one of the nine holes on the tournament map. The goal is to drive your team of five (four players, and one designated driver) via boat to each of the nine locations. Once there, each of your four players takes a turn driving an eco-friendly, biodegradable golf ball off of the dock and into a “hole” in the middle of the water. Each hole is placed 40 to 100 yards away from the driving green and is composed of two fire hose rings. Reach the inner ring with your ball and score one point; the inside outer ring gets two points and anywhere else in the water gets you three points. Mulligans are available for purchase. Teams pay $500 per boat ($100 per person) to enter.
The tournament concludes with an awards ceremony at 3pm on Saturday, November 6th where all teams report back to one location with their scores and enjoy a complimentary meal, cash bar, and awards during the wrap up party.
All proceeds from the Key West Conch Life Scramble will benefit Wesley House Family Services and The Wyland Foundation. Similar events to benefit Florida Keys non-profits were held in Key Largo in May and Islamorada in July and there is an upcoming event in Marathon in September. There will be a playoff for the top 10 teams from each of the four locations on December 11th in Islamorada.
